Review: Truth or Beard by Penny Reid

We are starting the year off to a good start I would have to say.

I picked up this book cause I have a thing for a handsome man in a beard and when I google searched it, I saw this series. I didn't pick up the book right away (back in November) but when I saw that Penny Reid said this book was FREE for a limited time, of course I picked it up.

Now when I started reading it back in the beginning of January I was...in a bit of a slump. Starting a full-time job and just being too tired no time to read. Also the beginning didn't really grab me.

But then I picked it up again on my lunch break during lunch and I was hooked again.

What I really love about Penny Reid's writing is that all her characters, not just the main couple, are all fleshed out. They have their quirks, their ticks,...they are all unique. (Especially Cletus. I love him and can't wait to get to his book, he is so hilarious.)

I also love the dynamic of the main couple. Jessica and Duane had a hate to love relationship. Jessica and Duane had always been at odds with each other and Jessica believe she was infatuated with Duane's twin, Beau. Yet, after a mistaken identity on Halloween night, Jessica isn't so sure now whom she really likes. But with insight from her fellow colleague and friend, Claire, she suggested to Jessica that maybe, just maybe, it was Duane she matched with and that she should give him a chance.

And so that's what Jessica did.

Though out the story, we see the struggle of Jessica and Duane fall in love and try to find their place in each other's futures. With also threats coming down on Duane and Jessica getting caught up in things...the story has been wild.

Rating: ★★★★

I can't wait to start the next book. And Jethro's story features a Plus-Size women too.
